This Week in NDSA: Alternative Spring Break at the Smithsonian Archives Center

This week in NDSA, Digital Liaison Mike Dutkewych returned from a week-long Alternative Spring Break placement at the Smithsonian Archives Center . During his time at the Smithsonian, Mike contributed to an ongoing initiative to organize the Archives Center’s digital objects within its OpenText Media Management DAM system, and create an access point for online users with applications like Archivists’ Toolkit and SirsiDynix Horizon. By the end of the week, Mike was able to bring more than 5,000 digital objects from 21 different collections online.
Look for a more detailed account of Mike’s week at the Smithsonian on the SLIS Ideas blog in the coming weeks.
