This Week in NDSA: The MOCAD Project

This week’s post comes from Kim Schroeder, our faculty adviser and coordinator of many of the WSU NDSA projects, and is about the “MOCAD Project”.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) project began in the summer and student volunteers have scanned almost three boxes of exhibit catalogs and press clippings. A procedure manual for scanning and cataloging has been written. In addition, a preliminary Digital Preservation procedure has been created. The team hopes to finish the project by year end and leave MOCAD with a better digital future!

  1. As a member of MOCAD for several years, I’m pleased to learn this excellent news from my faculty colleague, Kim Schroeder. MOCAD is a major force in sponsoring art exhibits on the cutting edge in Detroit from both Detroit area and nationally recognized artists. Having their exhibit catalogs and press clippings digitized provides a valuable resource.
